After 5 years of being a stay-at-home mom, I found the wonder of mothering slowly starting to get crowded out by the mundane feeling. I realized our world seems to surround people with the negative, and complaining about blessings seems totally acceptable. So I decided to fight against that "normalcy" and focus only on the positive. I look back to my first year as a mom when everything was new and keeping house was fun and I aim to have that attitude again. This blog is my outlet to showcase the daily miracles that surround me in my blessed life as a stay-at-home mom so that I will never forget the wonder of it all.

On Christmas Day.....

On Christmas Day,

**  we got up early to make it to church.

**  There was a new mama made dress for one very excited girl....and a matching one for her beloved doll.

**  We rushed home from church to scarf down my Mom's famous traditional ham and cheese english muffins.

**  Then we rested.....and rested.....and rested.  It was glorious.

**  We finally got around to presents around 3 in the afternoon.

**  There was a mass amount of turkey consumption.  My husband makes the BEST turkey in the world.

**  And we ended the day with my brother in law's family tradition....a silly string war on the front lawn.

Last year, Christmas was very hard for multiple reasons, but mainly because it was the first Christmas since my dad left the family.  Basically, last Christmas was an epic fail for us adults.  We decided this year would be different.  THIS year, we were going to have joy again.  I had a hard time at Thanksgiving, and feared I would again at Christmas.  But thankfully, that was not the case.  And it wasn't just joyful for me, it was joyful for all of us adults.  At the end of the day, we were excited to find that we all had a truly joyful Christmas.  I can't even tell you how much hope this gives me.  I'm excited to see this hope and joy grow in 2012.  We faced many trials in 2011, all of which were stacked on top of the trials we faced in 2010.  I have a feeling 2012 will hold lots of healing for us all and even if it doesn't, its an improvement that I'm joyful, hopeful, and excited about what the future may hold.  Bring it on.
