After 5 years of being a stay-at-home mom, I found the wonder of mothering slowly starting to get crowded out by the mundane feeling. I realized our world seems to surround people with the negative, and complaining about blessings seems totally acceptable. So I decided to fight against that "normalcy" and focus only on the positive. I look back to my first year as a mom when everything was new and keeping house was fun and I aim to have that attitude again. This blog is my outlet to showcase the daily miracles that surround me in my blessed life as a stay-at-home mom so that I will never forget the wonder of it all.

Costumes

I haven't been in the blogging mood lately.  Been feeling a bit quiet, but not in a bad way.  Just reflective.

But I wanted to get pics of the kids in their Halloween outfits up because they were just so cute.  I've had a lot going on in life lately, and I told myself I was NOT allowed to sew the kids Halloween costumes.  It took a lot of will power, but I obeyed myself....well....until the last ten minutes.  :)

We have a lot of dress up clothes so the day of Halloween, I told the kids to pick out their costumes.  It was actually really fun to see what they came up with in the moment!  Here's how they dressed themselves.

Logan chose to be an astronaut for the 2nd year in a row.  His flight suit was a bit snug this year, but it worked.  :)
This year he spiced up the astronaut outfit by making it a SUPER astronaut outfit.
His wonderful Grammy made him this cape for his last birthday.
Kian decided to be a "fire engine".  :)  My tiny boy is sporting the outfit Logan wore on his first Halloween, WHEN HE WAS 6 MONTHS OLD!
Yes, this is in fact a 6 month size costume.
Kian is a small little guy.

And my favorite outfit of the day....here is Laura Ingalls Wilder.
This is where I kicked my "no sewing for Halloween" rule to the curb.  Felicity had the dress and I'd made her the bonnet last Spring.  But Laura couldn't be Laura without an apron!  So I quickly made her a simple gathered apron with a ribbon tie to match her bonnet.
I'm glad I disobeyed myself because she was soooooooo cute!
And she loved every minute of wearing her costume.

LOVE them!

  1. What a cute Laura costume! And the others too of course!
I guess I hadn't realized how close in age Felicity and Finn were either... she seems so much more mature than him!
And, I am proud of you for telling yourself you couldn't spend time on costumes this year. Costumes are so time-consuming, and I actually get sort of stressed out about it. Silly, right?
