After 5 years of being a stay-at-home mom, I found the wonder of mothering slowly starting to get crowded out by the mundane feeling. I realized our world seems to surround people with the negative, and complaining about blessings seems totally acceptable. So I decided to fight against that "normalcy" and focus only on the positive. I look back to my first year as a mom when everything was new and keeping house was fun and I aim to have that attitude again. This blog is my outlet to showcase the daily miracles that surround me in my blessed life as a stay-at-home mom so that I will never forget the wonder of it all.

Handmade Holiday 2010 - Memory Game

I made this for Felicity and Logan to play together.  They're made of felt and scraps of material I already had.  I believe I calculated that this game cost me under $2 to make.  I used a few black felt squares at 29 cents each, the material was free because it was tiny little scrap pieces I already had, and the thread was even free since I'm still using up all the thread that was in my Nana's sewing box that was passed down to me.  Can't beat a handmade memory game for under $2!  Plus, it's totally tailored to their likes.  Half the game pieces are girl pieces and half are boy pieces.  Butterflies, owls, and birds will thrill Lissy, and aliens, spaceships, and turtles will thrill Logan.  I can't wait to watch them play it.

I made a little draw string bag for them all to tuck nicely into.  I sewed a playing piece onto the front of the bag for brainless pick up........I hope!

  2. Very cute, Jen. Hey, I was telling Papa about your blog. I thought he might be interested in reading it occasionally. Do you have to give him permission to read it or whatever?
