After 5 years of being a stay-at-home mom, I found the wonder of mothering slowly starting to get crowded out by the mundane feeling. I realized our world seems to surround people with the negative, and complaining about blessings seems totally acceptable. So I decided to fight against that "normalcy" and focus only on the positive. I look back to my first year as a mom when everything was new and keeping house was fun and I aim to have that attitude again. This blog is my outlet to showcase the daily miracles that surround me in my blessed life as a stay-at-home mom so that I will never forget the wonder of it all.

"Twin" Cousins

Becca, 24 weeks                                   Me, 23 weeks

Early in February, I got a text from my sister in law, Becca.  It was a picture of my nephew holding a sign that said he was going to be a big brother!  I called my sister in law back instantly.  I was so excited!  I asked her when she was due.  She thought the beginning of October, but wasn't sure as they'd just found out.  I asked specifically when they'd found out.  February 2nd.
It took all of me to not tell her I was also newly pregnant, also due in October, and had also taken a positive home pregnancy test on February 2nd.

As the weeks wore on, Becca and I talked often.  She shared her pregnancy woes and wonders, and I silently empathized with every single one.  Some weeks, we both had headaches pretty bad.  She'd tell me what her midwife suggested to try, and I'd silently take note and give those methods a try myself.  One thing I didn't empathize with was her pregnancy dreams.  She dreamt repeatedly of twins.  These dreams were so often for her, that she really started to be nervous about the possibility of her having twins.

Finally, after the end of the first trimester, and with a healthy ultrasound picture in hand, we shared the news of our baby on the way.  By that time, Becca knew there was only one in her belly so when she heard I was pregnant and due within a week of her, she said, "So YOU'RE the reason behind all my twin dreams!!!"
:)

I was so happy to see Becca this last week and share our pregnancies in person.  We haven't seen each other in a year I think (they live in Alaska), and won't see each other again while these sweet babes are in the bellies.  But what wonderful pictures to show these "twin" cousins one day, of when they were both in their mamas' wombs.  Hopefully they'll be able to fly down for Christmas and we'll get a picture of the babies sleeping side by side.  I'm honored to share these wonderful days of pregnancy with such a sweet sister in law......even if all of them, other than this last week, are shared via texts and phone calls.

Oh, and an ending note.  Kian was 5 days early, and my nephew was 2 weeks late.  I'm due 7 days after Becca.  So, we shall see which of these little ones decides to come first.  I'm secretly hoping for birthday buddies!

Anything is possible, I had two cousins on my mums side born on the same day.
Dad told the men he was woking with, he'd become an uncle again! Then a few hours later he said the same thing! I think they thought he was doubting!
All the best, exciting times :) x
