After 5 years of being a stay-at-home mom, I found the wonder of mothering slowly starting to get crowded out by the mundane feeling. I realized our world seems to surround people with the negative, and complaining about blessings seems totally acceptable. So I decided to fight against that "normalcy" and focus only on the positive. I look back to my first year as a mom when everything was new and keeping house was fun and I aim to have that attitude again. This blog is my outlet to showcase the daily miracles that surround me in my blessed life as a stay-at-home mom so that I will never forget the wonder of it all.

Peaceful Breeze

Today is a BEAUTIFUL day!  Its the epitome of Spring here....plants are taller this morning than they were last night, the sky is jewel blue, the sun is BRIGHT, and there's a perfect breeze that seems to send waves of Spring through the house, bringing a calm peace over everything.  I LOVE days like this!

The kids have been playing outside all morning.  Typically, we wake up, have breakfast, and then head outside to give the bunnies treats and love.

We have learned that they LOVE broccoli.
Guess I better put broccoli on the "try to grow" list for these sweet girls.

The bunny girls think our dog, Denver, is their big Papa.  They lay next to him, sit on him, nuzzle him, and seek him out, much to his delight.

The bunnies aren't the only ones who think Denver makes a good seat.  This morning Logan and Felicity were "riding" Denver in search of the Disciples.  :)  Of course, a "fire stick" and a spoon are necessary tools while searching for the Disciples.

Always on the search for bugs, we found this little guy who I believe is a baby ladybug.  Yes?  If so, that's very exciting.  We have LOTS of ladybugs in our yard, and we definitely want them to leave some babies behind when they fly away.

Logan also found this little guy.  I have so many pictures of him carrying caterpillars over the years.  He loves them!  I love this picture.  He just turned 6, but look at his hands....still so tiny and baby like.  :)

Last night, after all were asleep in bed after a wonderful Mother's day, I sewed up this little jumper for Felicity.  I'm very excited about it because it was my first time using a REAL pattern.  Usually, my clothes sewing is very simple.  I make my own "patterns" by tracing the kids clothes, or just wing it.  I've used a pattern for pants I guess, but if you've sewn simple pj pants, you know what I mean when I say that hardly counts as a pattern.  In fact, these days, I don't use pants patterns anymore.  I just trace pants that currently fit the kids.  Anyways, I found it very fitting to sew a REAL patterned dress on Mother's day, because my mom used to sew my sisters and I dresses.  In fact, the single pocket is very much my mom's style, and reminds me of a dress she made me when I was Lissy's age.  I was going to put two pockets on, but the single one reminded me so much of my mom's sewing that I loved it more that way and decided to just leave the one.  It still needs buttons on the straps, but I don't have a button holer so I'll work out a time to head up to my mom's to use her machine and, once done, I'll post pictures of Felicity in her new mama made jumper.  :)  She's very excited about it.

Lissy loves pockets, and I LOVE this fabric.  It's legitimately vintage material that I picked up at a yard sale before I even had kids.  I only have a few scraps of it so it has been used sparingly and very intentionally over the years.  Lissy loves it!

I just realized I haven't posted pictures of our newly finished bunny hutch.  I took a few pics today so I'll try to post those tomorrow.  Right now its time to have lunch.  Then Kian will nap, we'll get some school in, and then must make a trip to town to run a few errands.  Up until now though, the kids have been outside enjoying this wonderful Spring day.  I LOVE when they can be outside all day and try to take advantage of it while it lasts.  Sooner than I'd like, our Summer heat will hit hard and we will be forced inside, sometimes by 10 a.m.  Most people get cabin fever in the Winter, but here in California, we get cabin fever in the Summer when 115 degree days keep us locked in the house with the air conditioning on.

  1. That picture of the bunny on your dog is so sweet! I am jealous and wish that we were having a spring day here... it is cloudy and cool. again.
Sewing something from a pattern is on my to-do list. I always wing stuff, which is great.. until I want to sew something that I dont know how to wing! I am hoping to get around to using a pattern this summer..... if I ever get a few minutes with my sewing machine again!

  2. Taryn, the jumper pattern was soooo very simple. A great pattern to start with, I think. It was a lot like all the stuff I wing, but the inner facing (I think it's called) was new for me. Can't believe I was nervous about it. Piece of cake! Now I'm excited to give other patterns a try. I still like the idea of keeping it simple, but a pattern could help me expand my sewing.

  3. I love this post, Jenny! Your rabbits are so beautiful!
We've had success with growing broccoli, but the white moth caterpillars creep us out! I know you can soak them out but I am always afraid of eating one. SO we gave up growing broccoli! ;)
I love, love, love the jumper you made for Felicty, and am eager to see a photo of her wearing it! I imagine that blue will look amazing with her gorgeous hair!
